Polly Pry was one of Denver’s most notorious gossip columnists.  She first worked for the Denver Post then founded her own paper, "Polly Pry" which did not survive.  She was known to taunt Margaret Tobin (Molly Brown) in her pages for not being born into Denver’s wealthy elite but by striking it rich with her husband with the "Little Johnny" mine in Leadville.  She also was sympathetic to the mine owners during the strife and strikes that occurred in the early 1900s, mainly in Cripple Creek.  She even accused a Union Leader of murdering a mine owner due to the fact that he was a union leader and no other reason.  She was born in 1857 and died in 1938.
